Our medal-winning apprentices

Two silver medals for Thomas Krohn and Silas Hagland Grummesgaard-Nielsen, who completed their apprenticeship with flying colors and are now full-time employees at Westrup.

150+ year-old tradition

Every year since 1867, Copenhagen’s Craftmanship Association (DK: Håndværkerforeningen København) has celebrated the best trained apprentices in an award-show where they honor the newly trained craftsmen, their respective crafts and accolade them for their outstanding performances.

The medalists received either a silver or bronze medal as a token of their well performed and finalized apprenticeship program. In 2021, 80 craftsmen with 24 different educational backgrounds were invited to the event.

And this year, two of the three blacksmiths that were awarded a medal were from Westrup – an accomplishment we could not be prouder of.

Thomas Krohn and Silas Hagland Grummesgaard-Nielsen were both awarded with a silver medal for their well-executed work during their apprenticeship. A ceremony that took place in Copenhagen’s City Hall on Tuesday, September 28th. The ceremony was witnessed by HM the Queen, Margrethe II of Denmark.

We would like to congratulate all 80 medalists of 2021 for powering through their programs with such great results.

Westrup wishes Thomas Krohn and Silas Hagland Grummesgaard-Nielsen
many congratulations with their two well-deserved silver medals.
